Legal framework 

Along with diplomatic relations, The UK and Georgia have begun to establish a legal framework for cooperation. To date, the UK and Georgia have concluded 15 agreements:

  • Joint declaration of Friendship and Co-operation Between the Republic of Georgia and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland;

  • Declaration Between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Georgia and the Foreign and Commonwealth Office of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland;

  • Memorandum of understanding Between the Republic of Georgia and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland on Unrestricted Freedom to Travel;

  • Agreement Between the Government of the Republic of Georgia the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland For Promotion and Protection of Investments;

  • Memorandum of Understanding on Defence Contacts and Cooperation Between the Ministry of Defence of Georgia and the Ministry of Defence of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland;

  • Agreement Between Georgia and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland concerning the Rights of Employment of Dependants of Staff of Diplomatic Missions;

  • Agreement Between the Government of the Republic of Georgia and the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland on Co-operation in the Fields of Education, Science and Culture;

  • Agreement between the Government of Georgia and the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland on International Road Transport;

  • Memorandum of Understanding on Co-operation in the Fight against Serious Crime, Organized Crime, Illicit Drug Trafficking and in Like Matters of Mutual Interest Between the Ministry of Internal Affairs, The Ministry of State Security, Prosecutor General\'s Office, The Ministry of Tax Revenue of Georgia and The Association of Chief Police Officers, The Crown Prosecution Service of England and Wales, The Serious Fraud Office, Her Majesty\'s Customs and Excise, The National Crime Squad and The National Criminal Intelligence Service of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland;

  • Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Defence of Georgia and the Ministry of Defence of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland concerning the Provision on Loan of a Civilian Defence Adviser;

  • Agreement between the Executive Authority (Government) of Georgia and the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland Concerning Air Services;

  • Memorandum of Understanding between Georgia and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland concerning the Conduct of Military Exercises and Training and the Provision of Host Nation Support;

  • Implementing Agreement between Georgia and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland concerning the Provisions of the Host Nation Support to the British Force during Exercise Georgian Express 2004;

  • Agreement Between the Government of Georgia and the government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland for the Avoidance of Double Taxation and the Prevention of Fiscal Evasion with Respect to taxes of Income and Capital;

  • Memorandum of Understanding Between the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the Government of Georgia for Poverty Reduction Budget Support (Partial Reimbursement of Debt Service Aid).
