09.05.2019, Tbilisi – Georgian Foreign Minister David Zalkaliani held a meeting with the delegation of friends of Georgia from the UK who are visiting Tbilisi from 5 to 8 May, under the aegis of the Embassy of Georgia to Great Britain.
The group includes 30 visitors from Great Britain, in particular, current and former ambassadors of 8 countries (Slovenia, Slovakia, Honduras, Uruguay, Costa Rica, Cyprus, Germany and Ecuador) accredited to the UK, members of the House of Lords and the House of Commons of the UK Parliament, as well as representatives of business, academic and religious communities.
The guests from Great Britain had the opportunity to make a tour of various cities of Georgia including Kutaisi, Borjomi, Gori, Akhaltsikhe, Kvareli and Tbilisi where they met with heads of local municipalities. They also visited historical and architectural sites and local enterprises.
“This project serves the goal of promoting Georgian culture and investment opportunities. Our friends are well aware of Georgia’s achievements and challenges facing us, and are closely interested in new cultural, business and commercial opportunities our country offers them. I believe this tour will be rewarding. Half of the visitors say that they will return to Georgia. This visit is a clear of demonstration of political support to Georgia” – Georgian Ambassador to the UK Tamar Beruchashvili said.
Within the official part of the tour, the UK delegation will hold meetings with the President of Georgia and Catholicos Patriarch of All Georgia Ilia II. They also visited the occupation line to observe the situation on the ground.
