Georgia Showcases National Stand and Cultural Program at the 2025 London Book Fair
London, United Kingdom – The Writers’ House of Georgia proudly participated in the 2025 London Book Fair with a national stand and a diverse cultural program, aiming to spotlight Georgian literature on the international stage.
The program, developed by the Writers’ House, was designed to promote Georgian literary works and foster new international business relationships. The central concept drew inspiration from the historical Georgian figure Ioane Zosime and was presented under the evocative slogan: “Discover the Georgian Secret – every secret is hidden within this language...” This theme guided both the design of the stand and the structure of the program.
The Georgian presence at the fair featured the presentation of publishers, authors, and books, alongside a rich array of cultural events including a ballet performance, a musical piece, and the screening of a documentary film.
The national stand was officially opened on the first day of the fair with the support of the Ministry of Culture of Georgia. The opening event was attended by Deputy Minister of Culture Giorgi Mirtskhulava, Chargé d’Affaires a.i. George Saganelidze, as well as representatives of the Georgian Embassy in the UK, members of the Georgian diaspora, delegates from the Writers’ House, publishing professionals, and invited guests.
As part of the fair's official program, a presentation was held for a book by Professor Davit Maziashvili, dedicated to the choreography of renowned Georgian choreographer Mariam Aleksidze. The presentation was accompanied by a performance from Aleksidze’s ballet company, adding a vibrant artistic dimension to the literary event.
Held annually since 1971, the London Book Fair is one of the most prominent publishing events in the world, second only to the Frankfurt Book Fair. Bringing together over 25,000 publishers, booksellers, literary agents, and media representatives, the fair plays a vital role in the development of the global publishing industry, copyright trade, and cultural exchange.
